Everything in its due time. I’m so happy I read this. It is, in fact, so relatable I feel like I wrote it. Your expressed confliction is felt. I stepped out of the classroom November 2022 and mirror many of the same reasons. We are not alone. The growing teacher shortage signifies the awakening of so many others to their callings. I believe it’s only a matter of time considering the rigid restrictions of the educational system; it suffocates creativity and ingenuity. When I left my school, I dropped the teacher title and adopted ‘educator.’ As a poet/ historian/ griot you still embody the role. Blessings to you in your creative pursuits and I’m excited to actually meet you someday. I immediately sense in you a kindred spirit. 🙏🏾

Since this is old, I’ve actually had to go back into schools because I had to pay my bills. I was a sub and now I monitor students working on credit recovery. 🙃
But I agree with you about titles.
